Just thinking out loud here…
I wish that Windows live writer supported Tumblr. For real. It would be super awesome.
About three weeks ago I had to write something for a class, but I was having lots of trouble getting going. I was sure that after I got going I would “find my rythem” or whatever and the writing would just come easy, so I started to do some free writing. I started to write about a guy who had been Mickey Finned (AKA shanghaied).
It got me going, and I did switch gears and did the writing I needed to do, but when I was done I went back to the free writing thing, and now three weeks later I’m still writing away.
At this point I’m finding that I continue to write this story because I find the act of writing it fun and entertaining. I’ve also been doing lots of research about places where the story is taking place (San Francisco, and Paris circa 1900 so far) and I think I have found a really good tool for iPhone users.
The Wikiamo app (A Wikipedia app) lets me bookmark articles that I like / want to reference as I write. The app is free, and because it is on the iPhone it gives me access to Wipedia when I’m writing at a place that does not have a solid internet connection.
And now I have a meeting I need to get to. Day jobs can really fuck with the time a person has to dick around on the internet.
